What was I thinking last night? Be nice to energy vampires? Am I nuts? I must have been overdosing on mellow or something!
If you sense the approach of an energy vampire there are two things you can do, run or face them down. Don’t waste time or energy on them. They’re not worth it. It’s like chucking your dreams into a black hole – they are not going to come out of there. And remember, where you focus your energy is what grows and you really don’t want to grow energy vampires.
Running is easy but slaying them is a bit more difficult to do legally! But there’s plently of energy vampire repellents you can use.
First of all remember your basic vampire lore – you have to invite a vampire in before it can attack you. So learn to recognise them early so you don’t make that mistake. Energy vampires can be identified by their concerned looks and caring voices. They’ll make out they’re worried you’ll be disappointed or depressed when you fail. Or that you might over-exert yourself and do some permanent damage. They will get a gleam in their eyes as they tell you all the things that can, in fact will, go wrong. They will try to draw you in with their fake concern for your well-being. They will tell you you have no power in the world or that there’s a conspiracy against your success. But what they’re really worried about is that you’ll show them up for what they really are. As soon as you see them leave. Otherwise you’re going to have to employ some repellent tactics!
Enthusiasm is like a bunch of garlic to the average energy vampire, they can only take so much before they slink away and find someone else to annoy. Enthusiasm literally means “in the spirit” and we all know vampires don’t like spirits, especially positive ones so they really can’t be around enthusiasm for long.
Energy vampires are scared to death of focus – its like waving that wooden cross at them. Focus means you’re serious about success and that is their worst fear. And results are like the old wooden stake, once you start talking about your great results they will run for cover and you’ll never have to use it, which is a good thing because that could get messy!
But the worst thing you can do to an energy vampire, the one thing that is worse than sunlight for them, is success. In the bright light of success the energy vampire shrivels up and turns to dust!
